August 24th to August 30th, 2025. From Quebec City, QC to Burlington, VT, USA!.

We traveled 273 miles this week, bringing our total to 2,390 miles so far. We cruised from Quebec City, up the St. Lawrence to the Richelieu River, then headed south through the Chambly Canal, and returned to the United States (after an unplanned detour for a customs inspection). We’ve arrived in Burlington, Vermont, on the shores of Lake Champlain.

August 17th to August 23rd, 2025. From Montreal, QC to Quebec City, QC. We traveled 160 miles this week, bringing our total to 2,153 miles so far. We reached Quebec City, the farthest North and East that we’ve been on the boat, and the turnaround point of our trip. Quebec City was a delightful and beautiful place with a visible history going back 400 years. We visited Montmorency Falls, a spectacular waterfall just outside the city that is taller than Niagara Falls, and visited many other historical sites. Quebec City is definitely a recommended visit, either by boat or car!

August 10th to August 16th, 2025. From Ottawa/Gatineau (Hull), QC to Montreal, QC. We traveled 136 miles this week, bringing our total to 1,992 miles so far. We have finished with locks for a few weeks until we start our return trip down the Champlain Canal to Burlington, Vermont, and New York City. WOO HOO! No more lock pictures for a while! (Well, maybe one, but that is a special one you will hear about next week.) We had our first night off the boat for a while in the world’s largest log hotel, and spent some time in Montreal.

August 3rd to August 9th, 2025. From Smiths Falls, ON to Ottawa, ON. We traveled 63 miles this week, bringing our total to 1,856 miles so far. We completed the Rideau Canal reaching Ottawa, and almost didn’t make it out of the Ottawa Step Locks when we got wedged in a Lock with two other boats (not our fault)! We crossed from Ontario into Quebec Province and are sightseeing in Ottawa and Gatineau (Hull).

July 27th to August 2nd, 2025. From Kingston, ON to City, ST. We traveled 75 miles this week, bringing our total to 1,793 miles so far. We are taking our time on the Rideau Canal, one of our favorite areas on the Great Loop. We’ve done 17 locks and are about halfway through. We have visited some great small towns and participated in an Old Home Week celebration.
