Hello All!

We’re Off! We’ve officially left on our 2025 Loop Trip. This time, we are doing what is called the Triangle Loop, which will take us from home, up the East Coast to New York City, and then up the Hudson River to the Erie Canal. We will take the Erie Canal to the Oswego Canal, then across Lake Ontario to Kingston, Ontario, Canada. In Kingston, we will follow the Rideau Canal to Ottawa, Canada, then the Ottawa River to the St. Lawrence Seaway, which we will take north first to Montreal, then to Quebec City.

Once we reach Quebec, we will turn back south to the Champlain Canal along the New York/Vermont border, stopping in Burlington, VT, before completing the first part of our circle when we get back to the Hudson River at the Erie Canal. From there, we will go back south on the Hudson River, returning to New York.

Depending on weather, and how the boat is behaving, we may turn up the Long Island Sound and up the east coast, through the Cape Cod Canal, past Boston, MA, and up to Portsmouth, NH our old stomping ground, before returning back south, pretty much following the same route we took North.

We expect the trip to take us between 6 and 8 months. Follow our blog here to keep up with our travels!

Today, our first day, was a great day on the water. The boat performed well, and we had no issues. It was a bit windy with gusts along the way reaching 25 MPH, but we were in the Intracoastal Waterway, so there were no waves to speak of, and aside from a few drops of rain, the weather was excellent.

Docked at Fernandina Harbor Marina

We are spending our first night in Fernandina Beach, FL, right on the border with Georgia. Tomorrow, we continue north, for about 30 miles to Jekyll Island, GA.

We plan to post about once a week. If you’d like to be notified when we post, you can sign up for our email notification or join our Facebook Page.
