Our Ship Shipping Ship, the All Kembla, with our new Outback 50, went through the Panama Canal on March 12th! The scheduled offload date in Fort Lauderdale is March 17th! Brenda and I are going down to greet our new boat.

We have been tracking the ship to see if we could catch a glimpse as it passed through the Panama Canal. We got lucky, and it transited during daylight. We were able to get some photos from the canal webcams.

Unfortunately, the webcam at the first set of locks (Miraflores) was broken, so we didn’t get to see it go through there. We were able to see it at the second lock (Pedro Miguel) and the last locks (Gatun). The resolution isn’t good enough to pick out which one is our boat, but it’s on deck somewhere!

The boat started the canal at 8:47 AM and finished at 6:08 PM. Just over 9 hours. Shorter than we thought!

As of Saturday (March 14th), the ship is just approaching the Straits of Yucatán, the channel between Mexico and Cuba where the Caribbean Sea meets the Gulf of America (Mexico). ETA to Fort Lauderdale is March 16th at 11:00 AM! We are the 10th boat to be unloaded, so our time is at 1:30 on the 17th.

Once it’s unloaded, it will go to 1st Performance Marina to be unwrapped and cleaned. We had hoped to have our electronics installed and the hull wrapped before it goes to the Palm Beach Boat show, but there just isn’t enough time, as it needs to be in Palm Beach on March 20th.

Getting close!
